The Swollen Fox: Twin Sister Review

A blurry picture I took at the show.  I thought it kinda looked cool.

Friends,

here's my most recent addition to The Swollen Fox.  It would have been my third, but the last show I was at before this one happened to be Chairlifts' Free At Noon show at the World Cafe and I didn't have the energy to write it.  Mostly because I found it to be a pretty awkward performance and didn't feel like hating for close to 1000 words.  Anyway, read this review which has a lot less hating in it.

New Sleigh Bells, "Comeback Kid".

Just saw that Sleigh Bells release their first single from their upcoming album Reign of Terror.  "Comeback Kid" sounds a little cleaner, which seems the be the thing for low-fi bands to do these days.  Sleigh Bells don't lose their charm that they found with pairing abrasive guitars, hard booming drums, and sweet feminine vocals, but it definitely sounds reigned in and a little more thought out than before.  I don't think that takes away from it and, in fact, makes me pretty excited to hear the forthcoming album, out February 21st.  Let me know what you think!

The Swollen Fox: Real Estate review.

Hello friends,

I've started writing for another Philly based music blog, The Swollen Fox.  I found they wanted some help with contributors on their blog and decided check it out.  I'll still be posting here, of course, but if you want to read more of my stuff you should totally keep an eye on The Swollen Fox as well.

My first entry for them is a review of Real Estate's performance at the World Cafe.  Check 'er out here:
